Choose the Inca Trail if…
You love archaeology and want to arrive through the Sun Gate. You walk on original Inca stone paths past Runkurakay, Sayacmarca and Winay Wayna. It needs advance booking: see Classic Inca Trail 4 days and check Inca Trail availability.
Choose Salkantay if…
You want big mountain scenery and flexible dates. The route passes beneath the 6,271 m Salkantay peak and descends into cloud forest. It is physically harder and colder. See the Salkantay Trek 4 days.
Choose Lares if…
You want a quieter trek with Andean communities, hot springs and weaving villages. It is the most cultural of the three and a good option for families and first-time trekkers. See the Lares Trek 4 days.
