WHAT TO TAKE WITH YOU FOR THE RAINBOW MOUNTAIN?

  • Appropriate Footwear
    Wear sturdy hiking boots or trail shoes with good grip and ankle support. Avoid sandals or flip-flops—the trail is rocky and uneven.

    Choose lightweight, stretchy, quick-dry pants or leggings. Skip jeans, as they are heavy and slow to dry.
  • Dress in Layers
    Mornings are cold, afternoons warmer. Wear layers you can easily put on or take off.
  • Accessories
    A hat or beanie, gloves, neck buff/scarf, and sunglasses will protect you from both cold mornings and strong mountain sun.
  • Rain Gear
    Bring a rain jacket or poncho. Umbrellas aren’t practical because of the wind.
  • Basic First Aid Kit
    Pack essentials like band-aids, antiseptic wipes, altitude sickness pills, motion sickness tablets, and pain relievers.
  • Camera or Phone
    Keep your camera or phone fully charged, and bring extra batteries if possible—views are unforgettable!
  • Sunglasses & Sunscreen
    UV radiation is intense at high altitude. Protect your skin and eyes with sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses.
  • Daypack
