DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 104 – WIÑAY WAYNA – SUN GATE – MACHU PICCHU.
Early morning hotel pick-up (4:30 a.m.) and transfer to Ollantaytambo to board the train to Km 104, the starting point of the Short Inca Trail. After passing the checkpoint, visit the Chachabamba archaeological site before beginning a scenic uphill hike along original Inca stone steps. Along the way, enjoy native flora, waterfalls, and stunning mountain views.
Reach the impressive Wiñay Wayna archaeological complex, famous for its terraces, temples, and ancient water channels, where lunch is served with panoramic views. Continue hiking to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) for your first unforgettable view of Machu Picchu, then descend by bus to Aguas Calientes for overnight stay.
Distance: 9 km / 5.6 miles
Hiking Time: 6–7 hours

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – AGUAS CALIENTES – CUSCO
From your hotel, take the bus to Aguas Calientes and then up to Machu Picchu to enjoy sunrise over the Lost City of the Incas.
Enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of temples, ceremonial areas, and viewpoints, with time for photos.
Optional activity: Climb Huayna Picchu (advance reservation required) for a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu from above. Other options include visiting the local museum or the hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
After the tour, descend by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and return by Expedition or Voyager train to Ollantaytambo, then private transport to your hotel in Cusco.
